Fashion designer and co-founder of Good Material.
Jasper Fearnley is an artist, designer and beloved founder and editor here at Good Material Mag. Her relationship with fashion reads like a whimsical plot-line for a Wes Anderson movie. * Cue dreamy blue (Jasper’s fave colour) lights and a close-up of a baby-faced Jasper *. Jasper grew up in a ceramics studio in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, surrounded by creative people. From an early age she practiced visual arts, exploring oil painting, drawing, ceramics, screen printing and sculpture. Her romance with fashion began on a trip to the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, in 2007. For Jasper, the Museum opened her eyes to the extensive history of clothing and garment archives. From here a fascination with costume ensued, and a path was paved leading her towards fashion design. Jasper moved to Melbourne in 2014 to study and now wishes to explore the design world through her unique visual arts lens, demonstrating and incorporating her arts practice into handmade fabrics, ethical clothing and smart design. For her final collection, a nod has been made towards historic men’s and women’s wear, and the cycle has come full circle back to where it all began, in the V&A’s Costume Collection (how very Wes of you Jasper).
